Have a button to switch to Windows Shell without closing Aston

Have a button in the start menu or a hotkey that can switch from within the Aston Shell to the normal Windows shell and back without closing Aston. This is very handy as if you find that you are familiar with the Windows start menu/desktop...

Aston is a shell replacement and it fully replaces Explorer shell. The correct shell switching is impossible in Windows without log off. If Aston is loaded together with Explorer shell - it will very much decrease the PC productivity.

Id like to have more contol of what is on the desk top; for instance, I saw no easy way to close the rss reader. I don't use rss so it was annoying. Also, the appbar at the top in some themes was impossible to close. At least it uninstalled easily

Many options are available from context menus in Aston shell. Please, make sure the widgets and panels are not locked - you can do it on the Panels tab of Aston Preferences. Then you can right-click widget's gripper, and delete the widget or add some other widget from the list.

expand the ability for user's do-it-yourself and more emphasis at functionality rather than just eye-candy.

It is a very general description of the desirable application functionality. We would appreciate some concrete ideas.

Add the ability to download more widgets, similar to the ability to download more skins. Specifically, I'm looking for a currency widget.

Allow people to create widgets for the skins thereby having an unlimited number of widgets that users can download.

Creating widgets by users will be possible when a special script language is written.

Try to make it some less CPU hungry.

Switching animation or using a simpler theme would help.

Please, enter 'Customize start menu...' dialog, select the menu entry and choose wether to display it as menu or as a folder. Or simply open Menu entries as in explorer on middle-click.

Have a feature similar to the Jump List in Windows 7

Have a feature similar to Windows 7 Jump list, that shows frequent/recent and pinned item relalted to each program/launcher icons. It is displayed in the right pane of Start menu as well as the right click menu of each program.

I'd like to see a timer function on the power button, so like one could set the pc to continue doing something but then turn off in an hour's time even though they'd be away from the office till the next day.

See support for modifying the system tray icons.

While no desktop replacement has ever done a great job in the past, and I realize that MS keeps changing their approach, it would be nice to be able to overlay or replace the system tray icons. For those that I have displaying, I generally have a...

Make the Event Manager more easily accessible.

The Event Manager is not very visible and requires some digging to find. Making it more easily accessible would be a huge help.

when dragging and dropping files, show the icon as you drag it. currently the pointer doesnt 'hold on' to the icons as you drag them. this will throw people off.

title says it all.

Expand the notification only when the user hovers over the arrow. Currently, hovering anywhere on the notification area expands it. This is frusterating if one wants to click on an already visible icon, but then the icon moves as the bar expands.

Allow user to choose 2-6 open windows and automatically distribute them across the desktop so that the user can work in one window while viewing the others.

I often work with applications where it's useful to see both windows at once, for example, if I'm editing something in Audacity, but also need to see the text in Word. As it is, it's a pain to resize these windows manually each time such a...
